Property & Business Interruption Insurance

Property and business interruption insurance protects businesses against the financial consequences of damage to or destruction of their assets, as well as against loss of income while operations are suspended.

01

Who it is for

For all companies, regardless of size or sector — manufacturers, retailers, landlords and service or office-based businesses. It is particularly valuable for those whose operations depend on unique or high-value equipment.

02

Insured perils

Examples of insured perils include fire and explosion, storm and windstorm, flood, earthquake, theft and vandalism and, where agreed, terrorism and other natural catastrophes.

03

Real-world examples

A fire destroys a production hall and the company is unable to operate for months; a flood damages a warehouse holding stock; the breakdown of a key machine halts the production line; a power outage caused by damage to the electricity grid interrupts operations; the local authority temporarily closes the street in front of the premises (this may be covered, depending on policy terms).

04

Why it matters

It is estimated that almost 40% of businesses never reopen following a major catastrophe, which means business interruption insurance is often decisive for survival. It covers the period from the date of loss until the end of the interruption (reinstatement or replacement of property), subject to a typical waiting period (time deductible) of 48 to 72 hours.

05

Our approach

As an independent insurance broker, VIPOX takes a tailored approach to every client: we analyse exposures, assess risks and negotiate optimal cover to match the actual needs of the business. Local expertise and independence mean we represent the client's interest alone, while our partnership with AON also gives us access to the international insurance market. Correctly establishing the sums insured (particularly for business interruption and CBI) is essential to adequate indemnity and to managing the total cost of risk. For large or specific exposures (windstorm, flood, earthquake) we also arrange standalone catastrophe cover and parametric solutions that pay out without the need for physical damage.
