Financial Institutions
Financial institutions — banks, insurance companies, investment funds, brokerage firms, fintechs, and other financial services providers — operate in a dynamic environment in which regulatory constraints, volatile interest rates, high capital requirements, consumer deleveraging, and the evolution of distribution channels pose significant barriers to growth and profitability.
The transformation of business models, accelerating technological change, and shifts in client behaviour are a threat to some and an opportunity to enter new markets for others. The sector is particularly exposed to cyber threats, operational and credit risks, and directors' and officers' liability, amid mounting pressure from climate and geopolitical risks.
Managing this volatility requires sophisticated risk and human capital management solutions to reduce exposure, maintain competitiveness, and attract and retain key talent.
Key Risks
The financial institutions sector faces a range of specific risks: regulatory constraints and compliance requirements; volatile interest rates and high capital requirements; consumer deleveraging; the evolution of distribution channels; cyber threats, recognised as one of the most significant threats to the business; operational and credit risks; climate and environmental risks; geopolitical instability; and labour shortages and changing employee expectations. Climate and environmental risks increasingly affect asset valuations and the availability of cover, so they must be factored into an institution's exposure assessment in good time.
Our Approach
As an independent broker, we represent the client's interest exclusively. We analyse your exposure, assess the existing programme, and recommend how to identify, reduce, and transfer key risks. Our support covers regulatory capital optimisation, solutions for operational and credit risks, cyber risk assessment and solutions, and employee health solutions and benefits. We negotiate with insurers on your behalf, arrange cover tailored to your business, and guide you through the entire claims notification and recovery process. With a sound understanding of the domestic market and the needs of the financial sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, our partnership with AON also provides access to the international insurance and reinsurance markets.
D&O Insurance
Directors' and officers' (D&O) liability insurance is designed for members of statutory bodies — the management board, supervisory board, and senior management. It covers the financial loss of the injured party, the costs of legal defence, and court judgments and settlements. It responds to risks such as insolvency, misrepresentation or disclosure of information, errors in financial statements, misstated earnings, depreciation-related errors, mergers, acquisitions and restructurings, and inadequate organisation and oversight. Claims most often arise from the company itself, other board members, shareholders, creditors, regulators, competitors, employees, or clients. This insurance is particularly important in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), as it protects managers both before and after a transaction.
Trade Credit Insurance
Trade credit insurance is designed for trading companies, financial institutions, and anyone supplying goods or services on invoice. It covers commercial risk — that is, a buyer's inability or unwillingness to pay — as well as political risk.
Aligned Cover Programme
For financial institutions, all relevant policies — property, public liability, D&O, E&O, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability, crime insurance, and cyber insurance — must be aligned with one another to provide comprehensive protection. We also prepare solutions to close gaps in cover and to address emerging exposures such as blockchain and digital assets.
