For the real estate sector, the analysis and subsequent reduction of risk are essential, as the properties themselves are the owner's main source of revenue, making it necessary to have individually structured insurance cover for cases of significant damage or destruction, including cover for the consequential financial losses arising from business interruption.

Properly tailored insurance is a critical part of risk management within a real estate portfolio. The sector is increasingly exposed to climate perils such as fire, storm, and flood, which are occurring with greater frequency and intensity, and to growing cyber threats, particularly in technology-enabled commercial properties and REITs.

A further challenge is underinsurance: as property prices rise, a previously agreed sum insured quickly becomes outdated, leading to a proportional reduction in payout in the event of a claim. The value of assets and rental income also fluctuates under the influence of macroeconomic conditions and natural and man-made catastrophes.

Our Approach

For the real estate sector we offer a complete range of services: risk analysis and assessment, loss modelling, property valuation, bespoke insurance solutions, local and international insurance programmes, business interruption insurance, real estate and property insurance, and liability insurance. Cover can be arranged on named perils, such as fire, windstorm, and flood, or on an all-risks basis. Commercial property insurance is the central component, protecting against the loss of buildings and their contents due to fire, natural catastrophes, theft, and vandalism. For developers in the construction phase, builders' risk cover is also available, and we pay particular attention to financial crime and theft of money and to changes in the leasing of commercial premises. We build our approach on detailed risk analysis, an in-depth understanding of the domestic market, and independence from insurers — we always negotiate and arrange cover in the client's interest.
